UGH BOOTS
I was just reading a forum where folks are gushing about how they're finding knock-off UGGs at Target or wherever. Uggs are SO last year, and even then they weren't great. Why UGG boots and UGG products continue to be so popular amongst the masses confuses me. It's right there in the name - UGH. A sound of disgust! THESE ARE NOT FASHIONABLE OR STYLISH, THEY'RE FUCKING WORK SHOES.

...ugh ugh ugh ugh ugh.

hehe, meet costuminatrix, biggest hater of the Ugg boots.

"Trends" are getting worse and worse.

"Trends" make me cry. All of them...well, almost.
While I am liking the return to lace and ribbon and 50's styling the execution of many of the styles are killing me.

Aaaaaaaaarrgh...

That reminds me: the other day I remarked to my husband that I must like watching The Parent Trap (1960 version) so much because the clothes are all so visually appealing and flattering. Any movie made now makes me cringe at the "fashions".

I just got some ugg boots and some ugg slippers but....

I did not get them as a fashion statement. My feet get really cold in the winter. The boots I can wear my jeans over them and they will look just like regular loafers providing my pants are OVER them and not tucked in to them. The slippers well, my cats do not care what I look like.

See, and that's cool. Warm feet are essential! But it drives me up the walls when people in California, where we do not have cold feet in July, wear them with miniskirts and other atrocities.

UGH UGH!

Yeah they are truly a case of where form follows function

Meet a pair of Uggs.
Just Me!xhappyx on August 29th, 2004 09:25 pm (UTC)
The ones I have look different. They are these ones.

So if you look at them, and if you wear jeans OVER them the foot part looks like normal shoes.
Suzik00kaburra on August 29th, 2004 09:33 pm (UTC)
Those match with jeans. :) I've got an Aunt who wears her Uggs the same way, under jeans. It's when you wear them OVER the jeans or with skirts or whatever other horrible combinations I've seen it's bad.

See above for a truly horrible example. :-p
Just Me!xhappyx on August 29th, 2004 09:55 pm (UTC)
Yeah I saw the example and it is tacky. The reason why I went for the style I did if you hold your hand over the upper boot part and show just the foot part it looks like loafers. And... it will come in handy during the winter because my feet get really cold :D

Looks like somebody's cleaning the stable today!

I have NEVER EVER heard of or seen these before. Possibly because I live in Phoenix. Phoenicians may wear some crazy-ass things that have no business being worn in 110 degree weather, but I guess most people draw the line at eskimo gear. Thank god.
Suzi: i cannot keep it in my mouth.k00kaburra on August 29th, 2004 10:40 pm (UTC)
I thought it was frightening enough that my people indulge in these things. Thank God the madness doesn't extend to your people yet. :)

omg! i agree with you sooo much! thank you thank you thank you~~~~ *weeps with joy* i could not believe it when i saw girls wearing them with miniskirts... in july! i've never seen uglier boots in my life. they're a wonky wonky shape that looks like a duck bill. arg! i have no words for my frustration over these boots. T_T

*gloms onto you an' weeps*

I wanted a pair of those really cool eskimo boots which are similar to that with fur sticking out of the top and white laces wrapped all around the boot, about 2 years ago. I saw a pair at Johnny Soles (an expensive shoe store) and they wanted $180 for them so I gave up. I think they look super cute with a skirt but I agree that the look is completely outdated. I mean, I was eyeing a pair back in 2002!

I actually used to have a platform pair of those that I stomped around in junior & senior year of high school. (Which would've been 3-4 years ago now...) I liked 'em but they are quite different than Uggs. More wild lookin'.
