KA BOOM! AND THE LORD SAID LET THERE BE A GIANT HOLE.

So the carving of a hole in the roof of my mouth shall begin at one-thirty sharp, afternoon, on May 4th. I anticipate this to be not unlike Roy Chapman Andrew's famous dynamite explosions in the Gobi Desert, save there are no dinosaur fossils in my mouth. Yet.

This whole hole-thing is a part of my gum reconstruction surgery, where there is no reconstruction happening at all. Rather, they are dismantling the roof of my mouth to bolster my poor gum-line, which has been receding at an alarming rate the past few years. The theory is that the new tissue will prevent the recession for proceeding, but cannot undo the damage already done. Sigh. If you've ever wondered why my teeth are abnormally long, this is why. Currently I'm to pay $943.00 for the delightful destruction, but Mom is seeing if she can't convince her insurance to pony up a few more dollars.

...and it was not good.
