Mythology & Folklore Final - done!

One final down, and it was pretty easy. I have to say that overall, I'm quite disappointed with my Mythology & Folklore class. I thought we'd be cross-analyzing different tales thematically. One week, we'd look at creation myths. The next, we'd study flood stories from around the world. That sort of thing. Instead, my teacher would pick one story or cluster of stories and apply Campbell's Hero's Journey to it. I guess in the end I learned about how the myth has evolved throughout many civilizations, but we really didn't study that many examples of the stories. For example, in the entire class we only read a single Mesoamerican myth, one or two Native American myths. We did get multiple Chinese myths, surprisingly - four or five, I think. When reading epic poems like Gilgamesh or The Odyssey, the texts were prose versions written by the textbook's author. I thought them disappointing.

I guess the big problem was it didn't feel like a college class. I felt like I was back in freshman year of high school.
