Washington DC, 2010: Day One

I hate cross-country flights, but that's what I had to do today. Seanie and I were joining my parents in Washington DC for my grandfather's internment service at Arlington Cemetery.

We got stuck with a layover in Salt Lake City. I guess it wasn't too bad, because it wasn't a long layover, but it was a boring terminal to be stuck in. Now, when someone says they're going to Salt Lake City, what do you ask them to bring back? I looked in all the giftshops and I still have no idea what the proper touristy gift from Utah would be. Of course, I've been to Utah before, as a tourist, and I still have no clue.

We landed and went to our hotel at a Courtyard Marriott in Crystal City...wherever that is. I mean, we obviously got here but I still have no idea where we are. In Virginia? Maryland? Anyway, the room is clean and bedbug-free, and at this point in my life that's all I really ask for in a hotel.

We met my parents for dinner at a Thai restaurant. It was pretty empty, which was nice, because I was pretty tuckered out and just wanted to go back to the hotel and sleep. The honey shrimp dish was pretty tasty though.
