Writer's Block: Drama queen

If you could watch only one genre of movies for the rest of your life (e.g., action/adventure? romance, sci-fi, comedy, drama), which genre would you choose, and why?

You know, for such a silly question, the decision sure is difficult!
I am torn between stupid comedies and historical dramas.

On the one hand, I love me some comedies. Not romantic comedies - eew. Not parodies like the Scary Movie franchise. But stupid comedies, by which I mean movies that I think are hilarious but my mother, if she deigns to watch one, will dismiss as "stupid."

Like Zoolander, which is brilliant because of lines like this:
"Rufus, Brint, and Meekus were like brothers to me. And when I say brother, I don't mean, like, an actual brother, but I mean it like the way black people use it. Which is more meaningful I think....Just because we have chiseled abs and stunning features, it doesn't mean that we too can't not die in a freak gasoline fight accident." I could watch this movie every day.

Like Blazing Saddles. Every time I laugh during this movie, I wonder if I'm a bad person.
"Now, come on, boys! Where's your spirit? I don't hear no singin'. When you was slaves, you sang like birds. Go on, how 'bout a good ol' nigger work song?"

Like Dr. Horrible. Although I guess that one isn't always a comedy...hmm. Trust me, my mom will call it "stupid" anyway.

But I also love historical dramas, even the bad ones, because I love the pageantry and the awesome costumes. I can't think of many that I would want to watch more than once, but even the really, really bad ones are entertaining the first time around.

Like Cleopatra with Elizabeth Taylor. Oh man. That movie NEVER. FREAKIN. ENDS. But the costumes and sets are so gorgeous - and so historically inaccurate - that I'm just drawn in.

Like Troy, which no one remembers for anything except the fact that viewers got a flash of Brad Pitt's butt. I don't ever need to see it again, but I liked it well enough at the theaters.

So it's a toss-up. I don't know which genre I'd like best over the long haul, and they both sound fine to me now!
