Time to start applying for government jobs

A truly American sentiment recognizes the dignity of labor and the fact that honor lies in honest toil.
- Grover Cleveland, US President

Well, the local job search hasn't been going anywhere.  I've been trying to find some sort of position or internship at local museums, but so far the ones I've seen I am under-qualified, or they don't pay enough to justify the expense generated to get to them.  For example, several of the San Francisco museums have temporary positions open that pay about $10 -  but for part-time work, doing customer service (rather than curatorial or conservation work) it isn't worth the two to three hour commute.

Therefore, one of my goals for the upcoming week will be to apply for several 'archaeology technician' positions I've seen posted for various government agencies.  They're all short-term contracts (I think the longest is six months) and they're scattered all over the country, but it is my hope that if I can't manage anything else, I can at least find a job digging in the dirt over the summer.
