piranha - spider lashes.

Opening the door to ending a chapter (wait what?)

I finally did it! I told RHA I was leaving.

I took the morning off from HB's. Initially, it was because I was feeling tired and sluggish, and I knew that I had a few hours to play with since I went in on Sunday for a bit to take down Christmas decorations. After puttering around the house for an hour, I realized that this was a good opportunity to drive over to RHA because I knew my boss was at the office.

I told her that I was sorry to leave because I really like working at RHA (I do, often enough) but with the new schedule it just wasn't working out for either of us. I was tired and wanted my weekends free; they sometimes needed someone to pick up shifts in the middle of the week and I'm no longer available to do so. She was a little disappointed that I wasn't continuing on to grad school, but she said she had been expecting something sooner or later since I was obviously doing well at the new job.

It IS a pity that this job won't be available if I go on to grad school somewhere local, because it is the perfect student job. A little bit of work and a lot of dead time for studying. It was even a good bookseller job because I could read and write during my shifts, but it's so much harder to get other things done at home and around town because I'm always at a work desk.

Anyway, so she and the CEO will discuss exactly how we want this transition period to go. My boss has some major surgery coming up and I told her I'd be happy to help cover the office while she's healing. Will they want to bring on another temp or hire a permanent employee to replace me? Should I train the last newbie or should my boss do it? There's a lot to be worked out.

I'm just happy that we've started this process. It's been such a great job for me, and I like all of my co-workers, but it is time to move on.
