Christmas comes on Sunday night
The last few days have felt so packed, but I guess I haven't been all that busy, really. I've had eight-hour shifts at Bath & Body Works the past two days, and the combination of waking up at six and going to bed around midnight completely wore me out. I've got some homework to do this afternoon, and then I head off to work at four for another eight-hour shift. I can't complain tho'; I'll be needing this money because I will be out of town next weekend, when Seanie and I go to Los Angeles to see Queen.

(Besides, $200 in three days is pretty freakin' sweet.)

Memoirs of a Geisha is really good; I can't wait for that movie to come out. Bath & Body Works is joining with Fresh Cosmetics to do a fragrance and make-up line to coincide with the movie's release; to my knowledge it's the first time we've tried to be quite so trendy. The book, tho', is what I was thinking of. Great book. It makes me wanna be a geisha, wear silk kimonos and have men engage in a dueling war over my mizuage. Tho' I doubt anyone would want to pay much for a dud product.

Off to package up some bottles and drool over the holiday scents at Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab. Snow White & Rose Red are back, so I will definitely be getting a bottle of each, but look at some of the other selections.
For some reason, the description of Beaver Moon makes me think of capuu. Must be all the mention of cheesecake.
As it says, Traditionally, Beaver Moon is named thus for a very obvious reason: during this time of year, beavers are hard at work building their dams and preparing for the onset of winter. Because it was too hard to resist, BPAL’s Beaver Moon is sillier, sleazier, and full of camp. This scent is of cheesecake and cupcakes, more in line with it’s cheekier connotations, and really hasn’t a damn thing to do with Luna at all!

I have tried a FRIGHTENING amount of their oils, because I've been a fan of them for nearly three years now. Their perfume oils work much better on me than most other perfumes because there isn't an alcohol base so the fragrances don't get that 'icky' fake note. But since there's no alcohol to stabalize the fragrance, it has a wider variation to people's skin and can smell very different from person to person.

Rose Red is amazing. To me, it smells like a very green rose - it's got that big red rose scent, but it's also got the scent of the rose plant's leaves and the stems. It's my absolute most favorite rose scent ever! And it only comes out at Christmas. :)

I haven't had a chance to try Devil's Night yet, but in the bottle it smells like brown sugar candy. It's a bit musky, and has hints of mulled apples and wine in it, but it's so good! Very delicious Halloween fragrance.

Trick or Treat - I haven't ordered that one yet, but I definitely mean to before all the Halloween fragrances go away. It sounds great!

I haven't tried any of the new Yule fragrances - only old ones that have been around previous years. (The ones that were around before always say '2005' after the name.) I can't WAIT to try Peacock Queen tho' it sounds great.

Zombi - I didn't really like that one for wearing - it is a nice scent tho', like dried rose petals sprinkled on the ground, probably over a fresh-turned grave. There's a sweetness and a crispness that doesn't come through in the same way as in fresh or wet roses. Meanwhile, the oakmosses and earth give this such a unique scent - floral, but not at all typical. Almost a bit spicy - there's a hint of some sort of tartness, a bit of something extra in the way oakmoss blends in with the rest.

Absinthe - This is very herbal and minty. Everything about the scent, from the mints to the wormwood note, scream green. A lot of people can detect lemon in it, but I never could.

Bewitched is one of my top ten - LOVE IT. It starts out green and herbal but the berries pop out after a few minutes. Overall the fragrance reminds me of Blackberry soda.

black forest, black tower, and delirium are three I haven't tried; I didn't much care for either Blood Amber or Blood Kiss, because something in all of the blood fragrances turns nasty on my skin. Blood Kiss was really good in the bottle tho'.

There are so many great fragrances - some of my favorites are Lady Macbeth (it's heavy on the wine), Thunderbird (it's discontinued, but it was a great ozone fragrance), Amsterdam (very white floral with hints of crisp greens), Athens (rich warm, slightly spiced honey), Snow White (it's so hard to explain the fragrance, but it makes me think of marshmallows but doesn't quite smell of them) and Black Pearl (PotC aside, it's light and sweet and rather like a drink. Coconut and hazelnut.

(I could and do go on about BPAL for hours, but I'll stop to give you a chance to breath. :D )
