Scary book numbers
I've officially registered 1,000 books on Bookcrossing.com.

That means at least 1,200 books have passed through my hands in the past year.

Whoa. That's a lot of paper, man.
I currently have around sixty to one-hundred (haven't counted) books "to be read," roughly twenty of which have come from BookCrossing and the other eighty have been acquired at book sales, Bookbuyers, Amazon, etc.

My goal for the next year is to get all the BookCrossing books moving again and the rest of my books read before I buy more.

So you buy books and then release them to bookcrossing.com for other people to read... and then never get those books back?

Sometimes. A lot of books that I've registered are ones I own and don't intend to release - but having a documented list of them somewhere is really great in case, for example, a fire destroys my library. Very useful for insurance claims.

Other books I buy pretty much to release through BookCrossing - usually to trade for other books or if I know it's popular to send as a surprise in the mail to make someone's day. Those ones I never get back.
