Sorry about the rant - check back tomorrow for COOL posts about YOSEMITE!!!
I'm back from Yosemite. That was SUCH a fun trip; I can't wait to tell you all about it and show you photos and hopefully entertain you with my pointless anecdotes. (I almost put antidotes, and I couldn't figure out why that was wrong.)

Right now I've just simply got to get ready for school tho'. I'm already missing one class today - math, which is bad, I know - so that I can take care of some housekeeping 'round here. Specifically, I've got to get to the post office because there's this travelling LUSH box rotting in my bedroom. Between you and me, I'm rather annoyed about it - I signed up for the box back in July or early August, and stopped frequenting the LUSH forum right after because of homework for my speech class, and then because I was painting my room, fall semester starting, etc. etc. Basically, too busy to play on forums. Suddenly this box just shows up in my belongings as I'm moving furniture - I had no idea it was on the way to my house! I just wish that someone in that traveling circle had thought to let me know it was coming, so I could politely decline and ask them to PLEASE skip me because I'm so not in a place where I can be responsible.
But they didn't contact me, just went ahead and sent the package, so it's been sitting here since before school started because I haven't had time to make it down to the post office. And, since I've noticed the ladies have gotten even more impatient (leaving anonymous notes in my LJ, although I guess that's fair since I haven't been dropping by the forum or spending much time online at all) I'm going to skip school for them. Ultimate Sacrifice. I hope it appeases them.

(How much you want to bet that this post will be the start of Internet drama, rah rah rah? Naturally, I ought to be able to whine a little in my diary if I'd like, but this is the Internet where everything you say can and will be used against you.
Disclaimer to the anonymous: Yes, I admit that I am in the wrong for being uncommunicative, frightfully late in the shipping, and negligent in netiquette. All I'm saying is had someone taken the time to try to contact me, and in the process noted that I had not been an active forum member of late because I likely wouldn't respond or would have sent a "No thanks please skip me" message, we would not be in this situation, where you're frustrated because I've seemingly swaplifted a package and I'm frustrated because it's one more item on a precariously balanced plate.)

This is Heidi, originator of the box.

I DID send you a PM on the Lush forum NINE DAYS before you received the box, and it's still sitting in my outbox unread. YOU were the one who asked to be included in this box, and YOU should have been the one who PM'd me asking to be removed when you decided you no longer wanted to be a part of it. You didn't, so the box was sent to you.

Please don't make it seem like this box sitting in your house ("rotting" as you put it) is my fault. Just take it to the post office, mail it to the next person in line, and be done with it. Perhaps your "precariously balanced plate" is no one's fault but your own...

You're right, I haven't read your PM. Like I said at an earlier time, I have been on forum hiatus since mid-August because it consumes too much time for me. You are also correct that I should have PM'd you to say "Please let me out," but I will be honest. I completely forgot about the box. I didn't remember that I had signed up for it, and I didn't remember that it was coming.

In all previous swaps that I've been in, there has been more communciation between members than in this one. When I was running my own traveling circles, I did not give out lists of addresses specifically to avoid this problem. Peoples' lives change all the time, and in my mind it is better to contact people before sending them packages to ensure they have the time and finances to deal with it. Since in all the traveling circles I have participated in, that has been my experience, I assumed that I would be warned before something was sent my way, and I would decline it as I am not in a point where I can take care of these things in a timely fashion. I also assumed that if contact had been attempted and no one heard from me, it would again be assumed that I should be skipped because I was being unresponsive. Suppose I was in the hospital, or in Europe for the next three months?

I am not saying it is your fault; I quite clearly take the responsibility. I am merely wishing that the sender of the box had sent me a notice or had thought, "Hmm, she's not responding. That could be a problem." and skipped me.

Sorry, but it sounds like you knew all of this was coming, and therefore should NOT have signed up for the box.

You're right, I shouldn't have. I didn't initially intend to leave the forum for so long; it was only going to be until I finished summer school. But then I started painting my room, which led to redecorating several rooms, and then work tripled my hours because half the staff quit, which led right into fall semester, etc. etc. Life snowballed in several ways I did not quite anticipate. I'm the first to admit that when it comes to balancing my plate, I'm not very good at it.
