Working my way through mountains of skin care
I was cleaning out under my sink today and realized that I still have over one hundred pieces of soap.

Holy. Cow.

I thought I'd managed to work through quite a bit of my soaps, but I guess not! (Although that begs the question, how much did I have before?) I think I'll sort through it tonight and see about donating it to a women's shelter, but I know many of them won't take soap that isn't wrapped with ingredients labeled. So I could donate my Yodelingfish soaps with no problem (but those are actually my favorites! Tears!) but some of the other ones, like Lush and Darkswan, would have to stay with me because they aren't sealed and clearly labeled.

On the plus side, I've only got about a dozen bottles of lotion left under the sink, down from forty-one bottles in February 2006. That's good, at least.

Hee! Soap is so addictive. I feel your pain, though I can't boast a collection in the triple digits. My latest addiction is Arcana Soaps.

And ooh, I haven't thought of Darkswan in a while.

Ooo, I haven't thought about Arcana ever!

Enable me?

(Not that I can buy. But it's always fun to look! :) )

Be warned, they are irresistible ...

The site's at www.arcanasoaps.com but it seems no longer to make direct sales. Instead it links to retailers. I bought mine here:

the Dia de los Muertos soap in particular is amazing.

How the... how can you have so much stuff??? I have maybe three bottles of lotion I haven't even touched yet and maybe two more bottles of shower gel.

1. Working at Bath & Body Works for four years in June
2. Working at Lush Cosmetics since November 2006
3. Serious hoarding issues
4. Serious internet shopping issues

Disturbing, isn't it?

A little but not too surprising. If I didn't eat everything I bought from Godiva when I worked there, I'd have maybe just as much boxes of chocolate sitting around.

Ooo maybe I can ask you this. During the weekend, a friend told me BBW was having a 5 for $25 sale, but, when I went today, I only saw a 3 for something sale on the antibacterial stuff. Did the sale end already? :(
Suzik00kaburra on May 3rd, 2007 05:31 pm (UTC)
I think so. :( That sale was supposed to be 5 days only, and it started on the 23rd, so they probably extended it through the weekend but not any more. :( They will probably run that sale again in June though, so if you can hold out 'til then you can still get the deal :)

Oh phooey! Oh well, I can hold out; there wasn't anything I desperately needed.

I would be just as addictive with BBW and other smell good soaps but my skin is so damn sensitive! I love the sweet pea body wash, but I breakout everytime I use it. It sucks.

What happened to Yodeling Fish anyway? I went to visit the ez-board forum that was set up a while back (I'll admit, it's probably been well over a year since I last took a look at it), but the host site said that particular message board was now defunct. I tend to visit the yodelingfish.com website once or twice a month, but Charity has had that internet testing pattern up for ages now, and I'm beginning to worry that her beautiful and much beloved bath products will never make their way back from the gaping maw of oblivion.

I've tried a lot of handmade soaps, and Yodeling Fish was always my favorite. Her products were of an amazing quality that has been difficult to find elsewhere, and her scents were always unique, uplifting, and delightful. I really hope Charity comes back someday. Barring that, I'm hoping to find out where she disappeared to.

Charity's still around; I talk to her frequently, in little notes here and there. As far as I know, the forum's been down since you last checked it. I'm not sure what her plans are at the moment; but I do know she still makes product regularly and is experimenting with different recipes, so I hope that means she has plans to re-open eventually. :)

If she happens to drop by and see your note, who knows? Maybe she'll say something more definite :-p
