MP3 Players
Every time I turn around, I seem to be the last person I know without an iPod. As a result, I want one more and more, but I know well that I haven't got the funds for even a nano - and realistically, if I was going to buy an iPod I would at least the 30G just so that I won't outgrow it anytime soon - so it seems silly to crave one so.
For some reason, I just cannot get interested in the Zune. No idea why.

If I should happen to come across the money for an iPod, should I buy it?
Or should I give the money to charity, because I am not hurting for an iPod.

I have had my ipod mini for three years.
I believe it qualifies as "original gangsta" status - it works just as well, gets as much battery life as it ever did, and I've probably used it every day since my 19th birthday. It has been dropped, thrown, generally abused and yet perseveres through it's little ipod life dutifully and diligently. (And has never needed repairing. Ever.)

If you love music, an ipod is not a "splurge." It is a well worthwhile investment, and sanity preservation device.

iPods are evil and turn you into a pod person. I do not have an iPod. (On the same note, I still owe you a bunch of DVD-Rs filled with music--better that than 25+ CD-Rs.)

Oh yeah! I had completely forgotten about those. You wouldn't happen to still have 'em, would ya?

On my hard drive, yes. On discs? No, not really. I made an mp3 backup about two years ago but I'm not sure where it went. ^^;

You could always get an iPod Shuffle. One of those is less than a hundred.

If you want an iPod, need a MP3 player, then you should get one. You can get a better MP3 player for less, if it's the iPod issue bothering you. Creative Labs makes good MP3 players.

I would wait to get an ipod. Rumors are flying around like crazy on the net that the next generation ipods will be out either in September of this year or in January '08 during the Macworld Expo in SF. The current ipod model is almost 2 years old and is due for an update soon.

But then again if you dont care about having the latest gadget and you really want one, then go ahead and treat yourself to one (if you got the money). I've read some online stores slashed the prices on the ipods.

I used to be just like you believing that CDs were acceptable and not going to die out anytime soon.
Then, I finally caved and got the largest iPod Nano, which wound up getting stolen from the UPS man. So, I got the smallest one in the store. And I LOVE it. Always be sure to get bigger than you think you'll need.
It's so convenient and versatile.

I think you should give the money to me for an ipod. I will give you a receipt that you gave it to Charity ;)

lol!

I recently caved in as well and got an iPod Nano. I got the black 8g... realizing there after that the 30g was just as much money. I feel stupid now because I could have gotten more for my monies worth, but I love my nano because it's so easy to carry and workout with opose to the huge ass 30g

I have the same problem, except I don't really want an ipod because everybody has those.

My brother has the Zune, and it's actually pretty cool. I didn't like it much at first, but then I played with his. It has a good interface, but it doesent really have any good buzz to it. Apple has much better marketing.

Also, like many of the creative players - it comes with an AM/FM radio, which is someting i'd really like to have. I don't understand why the Ipod still does not have this feature, AMFM receivers are tiny these days. Like, nickle sized. They could put one in really easy.

i used to be against ipods because i believe Steve Jobs is the devil. turns out my company manufactures the touch dial on them! no we don't get discounts. i still think anything more than 4gb is excessive, unless you're one of those people who want hundreds of videos and junk stored in it. i just recently got the shuffle because i love that it has a clip and i can exercise easily with it, and 1gb is more than enough for my up-tempo workout-friendly songs. it was affordable and has a purpose without just being a luxury item.
