When the face doesn't match the voice...!
One of the reasons that radio is so great is that you can hear new music (selected by record companies) and if you like a song, chances are it'll repeat again during the next hour or two. But this is nothing compared to the fact that with radio you only hear a voice and a tune, so you can make up your own band to match the song. The singers can dress however you please, and they look however you want. If you're like me, you enjoy music but don't go out and purchase it too often, and don't thoroughly research every band you enjoy a single or two from. So essentially you can listen to certain bands for years and years with no idea of their faces.

Sometimes this gives you a little shock when you suddenly realize that a band doesn't look at all the way you expected. For instance, this morning was the first time that I actually saw an up-close photograph of the lead singer of Coheed and Cambria. I was expecting some sort of Supreme Emo King, skinny with tight jeans and a torn t-shirt and carefully styled tresses to dangle in his eyes to hide his tears, or whatever the reason is for that hairstyle.

This is not, in fact, what Claudio Sanchez looks like.

Does anyone else do this? Or am I the only person too lazy to find out more about the musical artists I enjoy?

P.S. I had a similar revelation with Keane about a year after their first album came out. Who would have guessed Tom Chaplin had such a baby face?

I've had that happen too. When I heard Robin Thicke for the first time I thought he was African American, but instead he looks like Chris Isaak! who knew? ^_^
