Made tentative plans to go to the deYoung or the Legion with Rhi in a week or two. Art museums are always fun!
Anyway, feeling lazy. Wrote about the service at Olive Garden for Yelp, so might as well cross-post it here:
I probably come to Olive Garden once a year or so. It's not a favorite restaurant, but it's conveniently located between myself and my friends. For years all I ever got was the Fettuccine Alfredo because the serving was so huge that I knew I'd be able to get two - sometimes even three- meals out of each plate.
I came here last night with my boyfriend to celebrate his mother's birthday. It's one of her favorite restaurants. I decided to mix it up a little and tried the Chicken and Gnocchi soup with the Venetian Apricot Chicken.
The soup? Pretty good, although a bit salty. I was disappointed with the number of gnocchi though - only three in the entire bowl! After tasting it I realized I'd ordered the dish before...and been disappointed by the scanty portion of gnocchi then, too.
I was much happier with the chicken. The sweetness of the sauce was quite nice, and the chicken tender. It was a pleasant change from the lemon or orange chicken I get at Chinese restaurants, which is usually the only time I get a fruit-flavored sauce. The asparagus was a little tough, unfortunately. The food didn't blow my socks off, but at least there was plenty of it.
Service was pretty good. The servers were very friendly and they came to sing Happy Birthday. They also split the checks without complaint, which was really convenient. In fact, the service has always been good at this restaurant; must be why I keep coming back!
