I'm going to Italy!
Woohoo!
I just got the e-mail I've been waiting for. I've been accepted into the Florence seminar and I'll be heading to Italy this summer! Super-exciting!

I didn't get a very large scholarship, I'm afraid. Only $350. I mean, don't get me wrong, I'm grateful to get anything, but that amount doesn't even cover a third of tuition. Oh well. At least it's something!

So Florence. Italy. Wow. I don't know if I'll be able to see much outside of Florence. We only have two free days during the class itself; makes it hard to get out to Rome or Turin or Siena or Venice. But hard is not impossible, and I'm definitely game to try...if a classmate or two will go with me. I'm a wuss and hate doing things alone.

Also trying to figure out if Seanie can come out when the class ends so we can do some of Europe together. I don't know if we'd stay in Italy or head over to England/Scotland/Ireland...it's hard to decide!

But yay! Europe is a GO!

florence is AMAZING and i wish i had been able to stay longer than 2 days.
rome is also WONDERFUL! stopped in assissi from rome to florence and it's adorable and the view is incredible.
rome is about 7 - 8 hrs away from florence, so it's not an easy drive if you only have 2 free days total - i'd say leave that for when sean comes and you travel afterwards. also, depending on how long you stay, do italy first. england/scotland/ireland is really far away from italy AND travel from the mainland to the islands is not cheap. what i'm saying is DON'T SPEND YOUR TIME TRAVELLING if your time is limited!
also, EAT GELATTO! LOTS OF IT!! IT'S SO SO SOS OS SOSOODSAODSDNOGFADSNOGHBANDLG GOOOD!!! and, if you do go to rome, you MUST eat at the gelatto place that's near the fountain. you can see it in this picture with the red sign. here. if you're facing the fountain, it's to you're right. it's the corner of the building.
