Writer's Block: Sweet tooth

What is your favorite candy or dessert?

I really like Turkish delight. (Like many Americans, I first discovered Turkish delight through the world of Narnia.) Rose is such a tasty flavor. I mean, rose-flavored gelato is delicious, and rose hard candies are nice...but somehow, none of it comes close to matching the jellied delight of a fresh piece of lokum/Turkish delight.

But it's not like Turkish delight comes in a single flavor. You can also get lemon, orange, mint, pistachio, and hazelnut. I just happen to like the rose flavor best.

Note: Some dear friends and relatives, knowing that I am very fond of Turkish delight, have bought Fry's Turkish Delight for me. While I appreciate the kind thought, I must confess that the Fry's candy bar is gross. The rose jelly is totally artificial and the chocolate tastes cheap. It was a HUGE disappointment.

Speaking of Middle Eastern sweets, there's this delicious baklava stuff that Sean's family sometimes gets from one of their renters. It's got pistachios and honey layered with filo dough...I don't know what it's called, but it comes in big round tins and tastes AMAZING. I could easily sit down and eat a quarter of the box in a single sitting. I could eat them all freakin' day long.
