Writer's Block: Paging Al Gore
Would you give up the Internet for $10 million? (this is for the rest of your life.)

I hate to sound like a total dork, but honestly? I probably couldn't. I've gotten so used to doing everything online that I'm not sure I could adjust to a non-Internet life.

For example...
How do I check my bank information? Online.
How do I keep in touch with my friends? Online. If I didn't have Facebook, I'd probably write a lot more letters...but I highly doubt most of my friends would respond, since they aren't in the habit and they would still have Internet.
How do I launch new research projects? Online. Before I start a paper, I always use Wikipedia to get a general idea of the topic. Don't get me wrong, it isn't my primary source of information, but it's a launching point. It's also the reference I always go to when I have quick question, like "Who is Josh Brogan??"
How do I record my daily thoughts? Livejournal. Online.

$10 million is a princely sum, to be sure, but I just don't think I'd be able to make the leap to a non-Internet life. Knowing this makes me feel rather pathetic...

Maybe for a $100 million. I could pay people to look up things for me.

Who's Josh Brogan? Isn't he one of the members of the tennis club at RHA?

LOL He totally sounds like a octogenarian from RHA. Kitty and Andi are nuts about him and I'm like "Huh?"

Do you mean Josh GROBAN? The singer? I looked up Josh Brogan with no results.

Groban is laaaaaaaame!

Ha ha, I guess that is who I meant. When I typed the name into Google, it auto-corrected to Josh Groban in the search results, so my brain didn't register that I was spelling his name wrong :-p

But to be fair, there appear to be several not-so-successful singers by the name of Josh Brogan, too :-p

My first reaction would be "Who wants to spend so much money to get people out of internet and why?"

Yeah these days so much of our lives are tied up on the internet.. why would I want to go back to paper statements and sending checks in the mail to pay my bills? Plus it's only going to become MORE of a presence, it's already in our phones and TVs and stores and everything. It's going to get to a point where it'll be impossible to ignore.
