I don't know how they do it!

Some of my friends always have perfectly polished nails. For example, my friend K has new colors on her fingers every few days, and they always look fantastic. Color is rich, smooth, and application is clean. She's so into nail polish that she even has a blog about them: Swatched Nails.

I guess I'm not quite that into my nails, but that's only because they chip so frequently and so fast that it seems like there's no point to trying to have perfect nails all the time.  Like, last Friday I painted my nails with this really cool purple-green dualchrome polish from Color Club, and when I took this photo a day later the tips were already starting to chip, even though all I'd done all day was sit on my butt in front of a computer.

Purple color is "Port-Folio", Green-gold color is "Editorial"

It's been a couple of days since then, and all of my nails have chipped enough that the white is showing through.  I even trimmed my nails a bit so that there would be less white showing - I was overdue anyway, the nails were just too long - but I definitely need to redo them now.  Bummer.

I guess the good news that if I repaint my nails, I can choose new colors, and that's always half the fun...
