Drawing the image took a while, but thanks to the good ol' grid system (trace a grid over a printed copy of an image, and then use it as a guide to transfer the drawing to a larger surface) it turned out pretty well. I actually had to draw it twice - once to blow it up from about 3" x 4" to 9" x 12", at which point I changed details about the woman's dress and swapped out the demon for a dragon. Then I blew the painting up a little more to 18" x 24" and painted in the shadows. On Thursday, I had just enough time to finish the background before class ended.
