Another awesome haul from Freecycle!
This afternoon I managed to score another awesome haul of books on Freecycle.  A couple in Santa Clara offered up eleven boxes of books to the first person who could take them - so I did!  I haven't had a chance to look over everything yet, but I'm seeing several boxes of manga, including several out of print series from the early 2000s like Boys Over Flowers and Hana-kimi.  There's also a box of old textbooks - probably not going to be able to do much with these, so I guess I'll toss 'em up on Paperbackswap or leave them in the library at work - and a couple of boxes of computer programming books.  But thank goodness for Freecycle - it's such an amazing way to make sure that stuff ends up in the hands of people that will use it!

In other news, Seanie and I are hosting our first house guest.  One of Seanie's co-workers who lives in Florida is staying with us through Wednesday.  We have been brainstorming what kinds of cool things he can do while he's here - touristy stuff like the Winchester Mystery House or going for a hike or exploring one of the tech or science museums.  Unfortunately, our guest just keeps saying, "We'll do whatever you guys want to do!" and we're like, "But dude.  We live here.  We can do stuff whenever!  What do you want to do?"

I bet we'll end up doing nothing tomorrow but sitting around the house and playing video games.  I mean, the two guys were working all day so instead of going out, I picked up some food from Tomato Thyme, an Italian restaurant down the street, and we watched Blazing Saddles while the guys tapped away on their keyboards.

It's such an awesome service. I got rid of a twin bed and a mattress last month through Freecycle, and I'll probably use it soon to pass on our microwave when we replace it with a newer one.

oo, Boys over Flowers! I have nice memories of reading that one. So epic.

I think that doing nothing (aka hanging out) and then eating is my go-to plan when I visit friends. Unless they live somewhere that has some You Have To Go Here tourist attraction.
