Packing up for a trip to Alaska!

I'm really excited that tomorrow I'll be starting my first cruise on the Grand Princess.  It's a ten day trip to Alaska, departing from San Francisco.  We'll have port stops in Juneau, Skagway, Ketchikan, and Victoria (Canada).    I've just checked the weather and it looks like it'll be sunny on all the excursion days, so I'm really hoping to see something cool.

Things that I want to see on this trip...

Big chunks of ice sliding off the edge of a mountain and crashing into the sea.  It sounds so dramatic and cool!  I hope we see something like that.

Preferably, bears eating large salmon.  Just tear right into those fishes.  I've seen wild bears before in Yosemite, but they're always rummaging through trash cans for human food or running alongside the road.  It would be much more exciting to see a bear in its natural habitat doing something more traditionally bear-like.

Just because I've never seen one in the wild.

I've always been told that cruise food is amazing and plentiful.  I'm not going to gorge myself constantly, because I really don't want to gain weight on this trip, but it would be nice to taste some really amazing things while I'm stuck on the boat.  According to my mom, there's a tea bar in a library, so I suspect I'll spend a good chunk of each day hanging out in there.

I'll miss my husband, though.  He's not coming on the trip - it's just me 'n' Mom this time.  I'll be back just in time for our one year anniversary on May 30th.  We've already got plans to go back to Yosemite.  That should be nice and romantic!
