Humanity is an ocean; if a few drops of the ocean are dirty, the ocean does not become dirty.
- Mohandas Gandhi
I don't actually know anything about Gandhi, I realized as I typed up that quote out. I mean, I know of Gandhi - he was some sort of revolutionary leader in India who campaigned for his people against the eeevil British Raj. I think he wore a bedsheet. Also, round wire spectacles. He had no hair when he was an old man; as far as I know, he was always an old, wrinkled man. I want to say he was a religious guy, but I don't know if that's even true. If he was, I don't know if he was Buddhist or a Hindu or Muslim. Was he assassinated at the end? I want to say he was.
But this is only the bits and pieces I've pulled together through pop culture. In truth, I don't know anything about him. What he was protesting, how involved he was in politics, his philosophy and/or beliefs...in general, Indian history has never particularly interested me, but this seems like a gap I should really try to fill.
Any recommendations for a good Gandhi biography?
