Here to get your jollies?

Earlier this year, the CEO decided that we should keep a bowl of candy on the front desk.  Since they're inexpensive, we've been keeping the bowl filled with Jolly Ranchers.  Personally, I think that these candies are gross, but they've prove quite popular with the very young and the very old.

Today, one of those very old residents came in...

Resident: Can I have a candy?
Me: Sure!
Resident; It's really very good candy.
Me:They do seem to be quite popular.
Resident: It's very sour.

Now I am very confused.  Jolly Ranchers are many things - artificial-tasting, syrupy, vaguely fruity - but sour is not a word I would ever use to describe them.  However, there is a green apple flavor, so I think that perhaps she's thinking of that one.

Me: You mean the green ones?
Resident; Mm-hmm!

She then proceeds to pick out a handful of red candies and walks out.

there are sour candies, but, yeah, some are sour and sweet at the same time. actually, more like "tart" than sour.

i've never like jolly ranchers. they were HUGE at my school when they first came out. i thought they were okay, but people went nuts over them.
i hate that you can NOT crunch them! seriously! unless they're super thin, you cannot bite them into bits. ugh!

also, look at their use of jolly ranchers as a blessing....if they were anything else, could you resist sitting by a constantly full bowl of candies?? i know i couldn't! :D

Oh, believe me, I am SO glad they stock something like Jolly Ranchers at the front desk. If it was something like chocolate I would have gained ten pounds by now!

But residents get so excited about the candies and I have no idea why. They're really not that good!
