Oh, adulthood.

Sean and I have officially crossed the line into Boring Old Adults.

How do we know?

The most exciting thing that happens to us is finding fresh ingredients like fruit or meat available at half price at the local Fresh 'n' Easy.

We were poking around the deli section, trying to think of something we wanted to cook for dinner, and we suddenly noticed that some packages had 50% off stickers on them. And I was like, "Whoa! We can get a ton of 'fall vegetables' for a dollar each!" These were vegetables that had been chopped into cubes for use in stews, I think - potatoes, carrots, that sort of thing. It also contained parsnips, which is a mystery vegetable I've seen mentioned in books but never encountered on a plate. Now I know that its flesh is white, but I still would not recognize it in an unprocessed form.

Hunting for discount stickers became something of a game. We poked our noses into shelves of bread, cartons of milk, and sacks of fruit. We scoured the shelves of steaks and chicken breasts, but some clever housewife had beaten us there. Still, we managed to find enough ingredients to make a decent dinner.

But this is our big excitement of the evening. I can't help but feel a little sad.
