IPSY: AUGUST 2014
Am I the only one who picked up this card and immediately heard "Beauty School Dropout", that funny little Frankie Avalon number from Grease playing in my head? Anyway, I'm guessing this will be another one of those back-to-basics type bags, a foundation on which later holiday bags can build with flashy, sparkly makeup.
The bag this month is white with orange polka dots, and comes in a cute little tube shape. It's a perfect pencil bag. I've been hoping for a bag in this shape for several months now, so I'm delighted that Ipsy has finally fulfilled my wish. I can't wait to toss this in my backpack with supplies for my chemistry class this fall.
And the bag's contents? Back to basics is a pretty accurate description.
DR. BRANDT Pores No More Pore Refiner: One of the obnoxious things about getting older is that the pores on my nose have gotten much bigger and more noticable. Will this help with that? One can only hope! A little goes a long way, so this deluxe sample should last long enough for me to determine if it's actually making a difference. $11.25
URBAN DECAY Perversion Mascara: I love Urban Decay but I am so sick of getting mascara in my Ipsy bags. This is the third tube in three months! I've even been making more of an effort to make mascara part of my daily routine just so that I can try to use this stuff up, but it's just too much. Anyway. Rant over. Perversion claims to make lashes bigger, blacker and badder than ever before. $5.50
FREE YOUR MANE Reviving Spray: Use this spray on curls or styled hair to reactivate the style without creating additional frizz. I've never had much luck with these sorts of sprays, but that could very well be due to user ignorance. I'll give it a try and see how it goes, because lately this muggy weather has my hair flying all over the place by mid-afternoon. $5.00
JERSEY SHORE SUN Mongongo Anti-aging Lip Conditioner: A lip balm? Awesome! I just lost the one I keep by my bedside, so the timing couldn't be better. I hope this company isn't associated with the TV show Jersey Shore - if that is the case, I think i'd be too embarrassed to use this in public. $5.50
LORD & BERRY Silk Kajal Kohl Eye Pencil: This is the tiniest eye pencil I've ever seen! The length is shorter than my pinky finger! Seems like a pretty standard black pencil. $5.00
So a basic eye pencil, lip balm, mascara, hair spray and pore treatment. Yup, sounds like I'm going back to beauty school for sure.
