Quote of the Day: Martha Washington

I am still determined to be cheerful and happy, in whatever situation I may be; for I have also learned from experience that the greater part of our happiness or misery depends on our dispositions, and not upon our circumstances.
-- Martha Washington
I wonder at what point in her life Mrs. Washington penned this thought.  Was it during the American Revolution, while her husband was far away managing the rebel troops?  Or was it after, perhaps when she was married to the President of the United States?  Maybe the thought came to her after his retirement, or even after his idea.  Whenever she made this determination, it was certainly a wise decision.
