2014 New Year’s Resolutions: November Update
2014 New Year’s Resolutions: November Update
Or: Chronicling My Lack of Ambition and Achievement in 2014
Seriously, why do I even bother?  At this point I'm chronicling this just to illustrate my own lack of direction, not because I've seriously considered or worked toward completing any of these resolutions for months.

Ride a bike.
The bike is currently buried under a pile of my brother-in-law's junk.  I should excavate, but really, do you think I'll be getting on the bike this month?  My husband has leveled every excuse from "The bike is broken" to "I don't have time" to "We have better things to do."  If he's not gonna teach me, who will?

Put hair in a bun that stays all day.
I have figured out a way of tying my hair up so that it stays in a bun so long as I sit absolutely still.  If I do any movement as extreme as, let's say, breathing, the bun topples out.

Get published.
No progress to report, although my boss at the bookstore has told me about a local press that's taking submissions for their first anthology.  The theme is "spirits", so if I can manage to channel my creativity into a quick 'flash fiction' piece I might manage to get this particular item off the list.

Be able to hold a ten minute conversation in Spanish.

Hired by the SFMOMA.
But that position was temporary.

Get a job!

Well, at least progress, no matter how tiny, was made.

Eliminate my backlog of books for review.
Up from 35 to 39.
Ugh.

Do something new.

Do something else new.
