Ipsy: January 2015

Isn't this basically the same theme as last month?  OK, not really - last month was Brave Soul, not Fresh Start - but I basically expect the same sorts of things I got last month.  Mascara, basic facial cleansers or moisturizers, and lip balm.

The bag is a flat modern design, made with a plastic fabric pressed with a linen-like texture.  One side is bright white, the other brillant blue, and they're topped with a coral zipper and lining.  It's almost nautical.

So what's in the bag?  The items are very small and lightweight, whatever they are.  You'd think the bag in the picture above was empty, but it contains all five things that Ipsy sent me.

LA FRESH Good Day. Day Moisturizer: Did I call it or what?  First item I pulled out was a sample of a face cream. I'm curious about the packaging.  Does the full-sized product come in a pouch like this or is it in a traditional bottle?  This sample is pretty handy for travel, though - the pouch adds barely any weight to your luggage but still contains enough product for several days. $13.99

MANNA KADAR COSMETICS Sheer Glo Shimmer Lotion: Use this with a foundation or by itself to bring a bit of shimmer to your face.  Sounds...fancy?  They also don't appear to sell this on the Manna Kadar website, except as part of a discovery kit.  So I have no idea what its value might be, although to me that amount is $0 since I'm not interested in using it. $?.??

(MALIN+GOETZ) Mojito Lip Balm: I got this in another subscription box a while back - it must have been Glossybox since I don't think Ipsy would send me the same thing twice.  I didn't use it (traded it away for something else) so I guess this is the universe's way of telling me that I need to check this lip balm out. $12.00

PACIFICA Natural Mineral Coconut Eye Shadow in "Treasure": Pacifica seemed like a much more exciting brand until I realized you could buy it at Target.  Still, I always love eyeshadows, and even though gold doesn't always look great on me I like it all the same.  (It's just so shiny and pretty!)  These shadows are only available as part of a set, so I'm guessing at the value. $3.50?

HIKARI COSMETICS Mechanical Eye Liner in "Storm": This is a nice slate-colored pencil.  Pretty cool.  I like using grays for tightlining because black just looks too dramatic if you're not pairing it with a richly pigmented eyeshadow or a thick, bold cat's eye line.  This will be very useful!  Full-sized product. $13.00

Ipsy is a subscription service that sends a cosmetics bag filled with 4-5 products every month. It's $10 per month (plus tax). If you'd like to sign up or learn more, please consider using my referral link:
