So what happened this year?
In short, not my resolutions!
Was it that I made too many resolutions, that I made the wrong resolutions, or I just had an incredibly unfocused year?
I'm not sure, but I fear it was the last option.
Ride a bike.
Didn't happen. I acquired a bike, yes, but never learned to ride it.
That's my childhood all over again!
Put hair in a bun that stays all day.
You know, it's not the solid progress I wanted but here's something - I've gotten to the point where I can tie my hair up if it's unwashed and it'll stay put for an hour or so without heavy clips. That's something. It's not an attractive style for going outside the house, but it's practical, at least.
No effort was put towards this.
Be able to hold a ten minute conversation in Spanish.
I didn't work on this at all.
Complete 12 paintings.
I'm pretty disappointed with how little art-making got done this year.
It's a really easy thing to just let slip.
Crater Lake National Park in Oregon.
Exercise 60 minutes a week; by the end of year expand this to 210 minutes a week.
Nope, I definitely gained weight in 2014.
Hired by the SFMOMA.
But that position was temporary.
Hired by the bookstore, but that's only part-time and not in my field so...
Get a museum job!
I didn't really find much of anything, but to be honest I rarely looked after I got my bookstore gig.
Take some f*cking Chemistry.
Took some chemistry, but didn't take enough to move on.
Sew a dress.
Absolutely no effort was made on this one whatsoever.
Eliminate the backlog of “to be posted” blog entries.
Up from 196 to 229.
I did virtually no "on time" blogging in December. That was partly due to being busy with school and work and the holidays and travel...and partly laziness, of course.
Eliminate my backlog of books for review.
Up from 41 to 49.
See excuse for previous resolution.
All in all, a painfully inadequate year.
