IPSY: MAY 2015
This month, Ipsy looked to the Jetsetter lifestyle for inspiration, selecting the beauty essentials to bring fabulous, celeb worthy flair to your make-up routine. "Jetlag is for amateurs!" the enclosed postcard proudly proclaims. It's the polar opposite of last month's laid back Bohemian look.
The bag is made of a rough canvas with a bold screenprint on it. It's a little larger and more square than the average Ipsy bag. The inner lining is the color of a yellow highlighter, and it crinkles every time I pick up the bag. Does the phrase "Breakups to Makeup" reference something? I'm too pop-culturally ignorant to know.
URBAN DECAY 24/7 Glide-On Lip Pencil in "Ozone": Use this clear lip pencil to ensure clean lines by drawing a base to keep lipsticks and glosses from feathering. Urban Decay is one of my favorite brands for eye pencils, and feathering/edge smudging has been a problem for me so I was looking for a product to address the issue. Serendipitous! The half-sized pencil also came with two small swatches of Urban Decay lip glosses (not pictured): a bright purple shade called Bittersweet and a bright berry called Failbait. Failbait is perfect for me! $10.00
BRIOGIO Rosarco Milk™ Reparative Leave-In Conditioning Spray: My recent haircut has had me moving away from styling with mousse and toward the use of spray conditioners layered with curl cremes. It's much less drying, but the sprays can weight down the hair if they're too thick so I'm still looking for a perfect one to use. I've got a couple of trips coming up this summer, so this travel-size will definitely be coming with me on the road. $4.00
KLORANE Smoothing and Relaxing Patches: I received two foil packets, each containing a pair of eye patches. They're supposed to reduce puffiness and inflammation, which sounds good to me; I haven't been sleeping very well and I definitely look tired lately. $6.00 ($3.00 per packet)
IT COSMETICS Your Skin But Better® CC+® Cream with SPF 50+: This is in a "medium" shade, which may be too dark for me until later this summer, but we'll see. I'm always on the prowl for effective BB & CC creams because I hate the fealing of foundation on my skin, but need coverage for the red patches of psoriasis on my forehead and cheeks. The models on the packaging and on the website are so fake-looking that I don't have a lot of confidence in this product - it seems cakey but I'm willing to give it a try since I've got this sample. $4.75
SKONE COSMETICS Pretty Eyes Eyeliner in Navy: The very first eyeliner that I had, many many years ago, was navy. I threw it out years ago because it was old and never replaced it. It's a good staple color so it's about time I worked it back into my routine. $15.00
Decent bag of loot. Only one item was full-sized, but they all seem like great items for traveling. They're small enough to go in carry-on and they're all pretty basic.
