Ipsy: December 2015

It's the end of another year with Ipsy, and they're celebrating the holidays with a back-to-basics approach to beauty.  At least, I think that's what the idea is behind this bag, because nothing inside it is extreme or unusual.

This bag did not photograph very well in my poorly lit office.  The quilted, shiny bag is a really bright cherry red,and the shape is not as sad and uneven as it appears here.  I really need to download some decent photo-editing software next year so that my pictures will be better next year,

PETER LAMAS Spa Sensuals Intensive Repair Hand Cream: This creamy lotion smells pleasantly of oranges.  The cream absorbs really quickly, leaving hands soft but not at all greasy.  I was quite impressed with its performance.  Travel size. $5.25

MODELCO Lip Enhancer Illusion Lip Liner: This nude lip liner is a trifle too light for my complexion.  It doesn't look like clown make-up or anything that negative, but if it had been only a slightly redder or pinker hue it would have been really flattering.  It has an unpleasant waxy flavor that seems to seep into my tastebuds, even if I only use the liner at the edges of my lips.  Full size. $20.00

PACIFICA Power of Love Lipstick in 'Tender Heart': It's nice that Ipsy made sure the lip liner and the lipstick matched and could be used together.  That hasn't always been the case with subscription boxes in the past.  This terracotta nude leans towards orange on my skin, but if I was going for a freshly-scrubbed look it's a suitable shade.  Full size. $10.00

SKINN COSMETICS Sugar Lips Polishing Scrub: It's been a while since I had a lip scrub.  I don't know if I'll use this; I don't deny that I may need the product (my lips have been horribly dry lately) but I doubt I'll remember to add this to my weekly routine.  Travel size. $10.00

ELIZABETH MOTT Thank Me Later Eye Shadow Primer: Primers are another beauty item that I just haven't adequately worked into my routine.  Eye shadow is one of the few make-up items that I wear regularly, so if this will enhance the longevity of a color I will try to remember to use it.  Trial size. $10.00

I wasn't thrilled with this bag; while many of the products seemed useful they were so neutral and boring that I think it might be time to re-take the Ipsy quiz and see if the answers need to be changed so I can get something more exciting in the next bag.

Ipsy is a subscription service that sends a cosmetics bag filled with 4-5 products every month. It's $10 per month (plus tax). If you'd like to sign up or learn more, please consider using my referral link:
