Ipsy: April 2016

Easter's already come and gone, so what does that leave April? April showers? That'd be a tough theme for Ipsy to work out, unless they filled the bag up with soap and waterproof mascaras. Spring kicks off in March, so they already did a Hello Spring! bag last month.

Dreamers is something you can play around with. What will they send to fulfill that theme? The make-up bag is an abstract brightly-colored fractal tie-dye pattern. It makes me think of summer festivals.

TARTE LipSurgence Lip Creme in “Wonder”: LOVE IT! It's a great pink color, and the formula is very smooth and long-lasting. In fact, I already have tube of this product in another shade of pink in my purse, and I use it all the time. Good choice, Ipsy! Sample. $8.00

PRETTY WOMAN Nail Polish in “Pouty”: I'm currently unable to wear nail polish due to some issues with weak nails, and it is such a pity because this color is glorious. I love how bright and eye catching it is! I hope my nails can heal up enough that I can use this over the summer. Full size. $7.99

CITY COLOR COSMETICS Highlight Trio: I'll throw this in a box with last month's bronzer for future experimentation with contouring. If I don't use it in the next few months, I'll probably go ahead and swap it. Full size. $8.99

LUXIE BEAUTY Tapered Highlighter Brush: Oh look, they even sent me a brush so that I'd be able to apply my new highlighter trio. How thoughtful. It gives me one less excuse (although “I don't have the right brush!” had not even occurred to me) to not try highlighting. Full size. $24.00

PUR~LISSE Blue Lotus + White Tea Sheet Mask: I really like sheet masks. Applying traditional mud masks can be so messy because you're spreading gunk all over your face. By comparison sheet masks are super easy to clean up and fast. But they're also so wasteful – each one is individually packaged and you have to throw away the sheet when you're done. It's terrible for the environment. So I can't justify purchasing them outright, but when a sheet mask comes in a subscription box I'm happy to use it. One mask. $8.00

PUR~LISSE Blue Lotus + Seaweed Sheet Mask: The difference between the white tea mask and the seaweed mask is that seaweed is soothing and white tea is nourishing? I guess I won't know until I use them. It's nice of Ipsy to send both varieties so users can figure out which one is best suited to their skin needs, or smells better, or whatever. One mask. $8.00

Great colors in this collection! Again, Ipsy did a great job curating the collection. Sending a brush that matches one of the make-up items seems like such an obvious choice, but it doesn't always happen. I like the nail polish, the lipstick, and the face masks. I'm really pleased with this bag.

Ipsy is a subscription service that sends a cosmetics bag filled with 4-5 products every month. It's $10 per month (plus tax). If you'd like to sign up or learn more, please consider using my referral link:
